Forum Rules
General server conduct (chat, the osu! hacking rules, and the moderation/wipe policy) already lives on the Rules & Connection page; read that first if you have not. This thread is about the forum itself: how the boards are organised, what belongs where, and what gets you silenced.
1. Scope
These rules apply to every board on this forum, the shoutbox, and anything you post to another player's profile wall. Server-wide rules (accounts, chat, osu! cheat rules) still apply here too, they are just covered on the Rules & Connection page instead of being repeated below.
2. Search before you post
- Use the search before opening a new thread. If your question has already been answered, reply there instead of starting a duplicate.
- If nothing turns up, go ahead and post. Nobody will punish you for asking a real question that genuinely has not come up before.
- If you posted and nobody has replied yet, wait. Bumping your own thread, or opening a second thread with the same question, gets both threads closed.
3. Post in the right board, and stay on topic
The boards exist for a reason, use them:
- Official: News & Announcements and Client Updates come from staff and cheat contributors. Rules & Guides (this board) is staff-written too.
- Help Desk: Feedback & Suggestions, Support, and Cheat & Feature Requests.
- Community: Introductions, General Discussion, Showoff & Media, Programming, Off-topic, and Non-English.
- osu!: osu! Cheat Discussion, osu! General Chat, and Scores & Showoff.
- Clients: one board per client in the Cheat Archive, for discussion, questions, and complaints about that specific client. A greyed-out client board is locked read-only.
Do not hijack someone else's thread with a different topic, and do not ask a client-specific question in a board for a different client. If you cannot find the right board, Help Desk or General Discussion is the safe default.
4. No backseat moderating
If you see a rule broken, use the Report button on the post. Do not reply with "this should be locked" or "this user should be silenced." Staff will act on reports; a member acting like a moderator will be the one who gets silenced.
5. No spam, no begging, no low-effort bumping
- Spam, copy-pasted posts, and farming your post count are not allowed.
- If you want a cheat or a feature, use Cheat & Feature Requests properly. One thread per request, with real detail. "gib pls" one-liners will be deleted.
- Do not bump a thread just to bring it back up. Let it breathe.
6. Keep threads useful, do not gut your own posts
Once your problem is solved, leave the thread as it is. Editing your original post to remove the question and the answer just wastes the time of the next person who finds it through search. If you need to correct something, add a new reply instead of erasing history.
7. Cheats, downloads, and external links
Every client we host lives in the Cheat Archive and, where applicable, Client Downloads. Do not post links to pirated builds, unapproved mirrors, or anything you cannot vouch for. Files that turn out to be malicious, or links to warez of any kind, get you permanently banned on sight, no warning.
8. Reputation and votes
Post votes are for the quality of a post, not a popularity contest. Do not ask people to upvote you, do not organise or ask for downvote brigading, and do not create accounts to vote on your own posts.
9. Avatars, profile pages, and the shoutbox
Your avatar and your profile's "About me" (userpage) follow the same rules as everything else here: nothing pornographic, hateful, or illegal. The shoutbox is public chat bridged in-game, so treat it exactly like the chat rules on Rules & Connection.
10. No recruiting, no advertising, no trading
- Do not use this forum, its private messages, or profile walls to recruit for another server, community, or Discord.
- No buying, selling, or trading of accounts, cheats, or anything else.
- No donation begging. If you want to support fishy.moe, ask in
#support-ticketson Discord, we are not going to advertise it for you here.
11. Multiple accounts and ban evasion
Multi-accounting and ban evasion are covered in full on Rules & Connection. On the forum specifically: posting from an alt to get around a silence or a restriction on your main is treated as ban evasion, not as a fresh start.
12. No filter bypassing, no impersonation
Do not try to spell around the word filter, and do not impersonate a staff member or another player, on the forum or in your username.
13. Content that is never allowed
Illegal content, hacking unrelated to osu! (malware, DoS, credential theft, and the like), doxxing, and anything sexual, hateful, or violent get you permanently banned and, where it applies, reported to the relevant platform or authorities. There is no warning for this category.
14. Enforcement
We do not run a fixed infraction-point system. Staff act at their discretion: a warning, a temporary silence, a longer silence, a restriction, or a permanent ban, depending on what was done and whether it has happened before. Breaking the osu! hacking rules while competing on the leaderboard follows the wipe policy on Rules & Connection, not the ladder above.
15. Appeals
If you believe you were actioned unfairly, join our Discord and open a ticket in
#support-tickets. Staff will review it.Rules can change at any time as we see fit. New rules may or may not be retroactive, at our discretion. This thread will be kept up to date, but the Rules & Connection page and our Discord are the source of truth if the two ever disagree.
